HOUSE OF BROWNIES

Performance: House of Brownies 

House of Brownies is a queer BIPOC artist collective dedicated to empowering artists from marginalized communities. They organize workshops, concerts, exhibitions, and performances to foster constructive dialogue within society. 

 

Performers: 

Marcelino Libao (they/them): A dancer from Manila, Marcelino studied at the School of the Hamburg Ballet and is now a soloist with the Leipzig Ballet. They advocate for others through House of Brownies projects and their initiative, Stepping Forward. 

 

Tash Africa (he/she/they): A multidisciplinary artist, Tash has performed at the Ernst Deutsch Theater and is the lead singer of Port Joanna. They use songwriting and poetry to inspire and teach young artists. 

 

The Schmidt (they/them): A multimedia artist and the “mother” of House of Brownies, The Schmidt works with dance and photography. Their work is supported by the Ferdinand Möller Foundation and the Behörde für Medien und Kultur Hamburg.
